Kinder Music @ Montessori!
"Music is the electrical soil in which the spirit lives, thinks and invents." --Ludwig van Beethoven
There's still room for a few more friends!
This program is based on the Dalcroze, Kodály, and Orff, music methods for early childhood and it is tailored to the kindergartener.
Research shows that the study of music enhances our brain by:
• improving attention, concentration and memory developingteam work
• enhancing creativity
• developing team work
• providing inspiration and motivation
The kids will be developing their musical skills through:
- Eurhythmics: Musical expression through movement; developing musical skills through kinetic exercises.
- Solfège: Helps develop ear-training and sight-singing skills.
- Improvisation: Using instruments, movement, and voice.
The Kodály method uses a child-developmental approach to sequence, introducing skills according to the capabilities of the child. New concepts are introduced beginning with what is easiest for the child and progressing to the more difficult. Children are first introduced to musical concepts through experiences such as listening, singing, or movement. It is only after the child becomes familiar with a concept that he or she learns how to notate it, just like the process of language. Concepts are constantly reviewed and reinforced through games, movement, songs, and exercises.
